Ankim M. Shah maintains a general practice of law concentrating in residential and commercial real estate, hospitality law (hotels/motels), business law, corporate law, franchise law, financing law, real estate tax appeals, and wills, trusts and estate planning.
Ankim brings to his practice of law a unique background consisting of a practical, entrepreneurial understanding of real estate and business coupled with large-firm experience. Ankim and his family have owned convenience stores, liquor stores, franchises, hotels/motels and commercial real estate from apartment buildings to office buildings for many years. Ankim is able to counsel his clients on the law as well as the business aspects of the transaction.
Prior to founding ShahDesai, PC, Ankim formed his own full-service law firm, the Law Offices of Ankim M Shah, PC, where he began providing the personalized attention and sound advice to his clients and community for which he is known for today. Before entering solo practice, Ankim worked for Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen LLP, a Mid-Atlantic law firm with more than 300 attorneys located throughout the nation. At WolfBlock, Ankim represented public and private companies in the purchase and sale of real estate, hotels/motels and businesses throughout the country ranging from the purchase of a single franchise to the sale of a $300 million commercial real estate portfolio. Ankim also gained financing experience by representing banks and other lending institutions in commercial, construction, and SBA loans to individuals, entities and small businesses.
Ankim earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Rutgers School of Law – Newark and his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Michigan in Economics and Political Science. He is fluent in Gujarati and understands Hindi and Spanish. Ankim is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York, and he is able to represent clients in commercial real estate and hotel/motel and business transactions throughout the United States.
